Paste ingredients, set the two numbers, read the new amounts.
How it works
The page multiplies the first amount on each line by the number you want divided by the number it makes. Fractions, mixed numbers, decimals and ranges are read as written, and the answer is worked out exactly, not by guessing.
If the answer is a whole number, a half, a third, a quarter or an eighth, it is shown exactly. Otherwise it is rounded to the nearest eighth and marked "about", with the exact value in the note. If you wrote a decimal, you get a decimal.
Only the first amount on a line changes. Other numbers, such as a can size, are left as typed, and the line says so. Names are never changed, so "1 egg" doubled reads "2 egg".
A line with no amount, such as a heading or "salt to taste", is shown as it is. A line that looks like an amount but cannot be read safely, such as "1,5 cups", is left untouched and marked. No line is dropped.
Cook time, oven temperature, pan size, and salt, spice or raising agents may not scale evenly. This page does not change them.
This page keeps nothing. What you type stays in this tab, and a reload clears it.
